There is very little left to get completed in the boat, but with broken arm we do not want to cruise unless we have additional crew.
On Thursday evening my brother and his wife arrived to stay with us for a few days. Richard is a marine diesel mechanic so were interested to hear what he had to say about our motor and systems.

I cannot take photos at the moment except with difficulty with my iphone. So photos here are mostly by Howard Johns and Peter Court. Our guests Deb and Peter left yesterday so I thought I'd have a go at a one-handed post. farewell drinks with Peter and Deb overlooking the Ijssel.
13 14 May After our whisper boat trip we decided to head off to Ossenzijl and have lunch there. Our guests Deb and Peter decided to ride ahead to Ossenzijn. It was about a 40 minute trip down the river on the barge and 15 minutes on the bike and the weather was quite good. When we got to our appointed mooring place at closer to 1:15, there were a couple of boats moored there for their lunch break. Deb and Peter had to ask one to move along so that we could fit into the gap. A bit of manoeuvring with quite an audience and we got into place, and plugged into the power. Yay!
May 12 and 13 Our original plan had been to go and moor wild somewhere in the National Park De Weeribben, but as we hadn’t been able to get electricity the night before, we decided to only head to Blokzijl instead, and then recharge the batteries fully.
We set off and it was mild but rainy on and off. We got to Blokzijl and moored in the lovely harbor (having asked a guy in his yacht to move a couple of metres to give us room). But we need 12 amps to be able to take power and the shore power kept tripping at that current, so we were unable to charge the batteries at all. Thursday 11 May We set off for our first day of cruising on Thursday. The parts for the generator still hadn’t arrived so we were without backup power generation. We were reasonably confident about the engine, but still had issues with the throttle and rev counter. Howard took this photo as we passed the entrance to our harbour
Saturday 6th May
On Saturday we went to Lelystad for the day. The main reason was to visit a fishing tackle shop. Howard wanted a new fishing box. As I understand it, this is a critical piece of fishing equipment - it holds your stuff and has a nice padded seat for you to sit on. Anyway, Howard's current box is too big to fit easily into the hold. So he leaves it sitting in the kitchen. But he found one on the internet that is smaller and so can be kept in the forepeak - freeing up space in the kitchen. Monday 17th AprilWe wanted to buy an outdoor table that would sit nicely over our new pigeon hatch. We thought a nice table with a glass top would let the sun in, and a square or round table that is 150cm -180cm would be perfect. After searching in shops and on the internet the only table we could find was a plastic party table 160cm wide. So we decided to buy this (it was on special) and get it delivered to the boat. As we didn't have an address for the boat we decided to give them the address that google maps gave us for our location. So we ordered the table using this address.
We left Elburg on Friday to go to Kampen. It was overcast but no rain. It took us 5 hours and we only went through one lock (it is a 20minute drive in a car). The engine went well on the trip. We saw a few Botters and some commercial traffic - especially on the Ijssel.
5 May We got a lot done this week in some areas. Our tests on the engine were unable to find anything else wrong, so Henk (the steel guy) gave her a tentative bill of health, and we were able to leave Elburg on Friday. We will watch her closely though.
