6-12 August We had another week in Mons to get a few jobs done and wait for our next guests Leona and Jean-Marie. We did see a few sights in Mons, Nimy and even took the train to Brussels. One of the first things Howard did on our arrival in Mons was to check the stern bearing which meant going for a swim. We had plenty of domestic jobs to do and some shoping, so it wasn't until Thursday that we went into town for the day, using the nearby local bus. There was a garden set up in the main square, and after a wander and lunch we went to the François Duesberg Museum of Decorative Arts. This had an amazing collection, including many clocks. One of the highlights for me were the many and varied chandeliers. No photos allowed except an over view at the end of the visit. On Thursday afternoon we went for a walk along the canal to Nimy. It was pretty run down. It was the town where the first British Victoria Crosses were earned in WWI, as they tried to stop the German advance across the canal. Some nice sunsets on Wednesday and Thursday nights. On Saturday we caught the train to Brussels. We booked a walking tour at 1:30, so had a quick look around and lunch before then. The highlight for me was the Grand Place, the main square, which was Awesome. There were weddings going on in the Town Hall. Chocolate seems to be an obsession in this city. So many specialist chocolate shops. Every day, our pastry chefs prepare these desserts with passion, to offer you a rare and unexpected emotion The tour guide was quite interesting and we enjoyed our 2.5 hour walk. On Sunday we had a domestic day getting ready for our next visitors, Jean-Marie and Leona. In the afternoon we went for a walk over by the marina, before our guests arrived. It was great to see them again. On Monday Jean-Marie and Leona drove us to Lobbes to the hospital. The specialist there was very happy with progress on my arm and gave me some simple exercises to do with my arm. I will be able to start rehab with a physio in 2 weeks.
After the hospital we drove to Lobbes for a nice meal. We sat outside under the cover, but later it poured with rain and even hailed. So we ended up going inside for coffee.

Howard floor looks great, now you need one of those flat furniture trolleys with the little caster wheels and you can wheel yourself around down there. They had them on a navy support vessel with an instrument room with as much headroom as your engine room.
