We set off this morning for Elburg which is a fairly easy trip. But unfortunately we had a reoccurrence of the engine problem that we had yesterday. Howard's fix didn't hold so we returned to Harderhaven. Howard thinks we can get a new hose in the morning and head off for Elburg so that we get there in time to meet with our carpenter and project manager at 4:15 as planned.
We did have a nice day riding around the town - unfortunately my new fujifilm camera is not working again so we have no pictures. But below are some shots I took of a guy fishing in Erkemederstrand. He caught a Pike that was 95 cm long. Very impressive.

We set off at about 2:30 on Wednesday afternoon. We were expecting an obstruction which would reopen at about 5pm - and we hoped to pass is before it closed again the next morning. We got there at about 4pm and there was nothing there so continued on. That first day we did a lot of learning about how the boat reacts. A little paint was lost but all in all a good day. We tied up at Uithoorn, and wander down to the nearby pub for dinner. Next morning Howard did some fishing just by the boat and got a nice little haul.
Yesterday Howard's fishing gear arrived and he has now stored that all away in the Forepeak. He also got his fishing license so, of course, he is out fishing this morning.
It has been a busy and memorable week. We did our barge training and exams on Tuesday and Wednesday and we both passed with flying colours. Then on Thursday we flew to the Netherlands and arrived at our barge at Oude Wetering with Henk and Rikki there to welcome us. We have been so lucky to find this barge and be able to purchase it from some lovely people who have really looked after her and us.
