Belgium River Leie and Kortrijk 24-28 August After leaving Lille we headed back into Belgium to Kortrijk on the River Leie. This is quite a busy commercial river and so at all our moorings we had some wash to contend with. At Kortrijk, I had my first physio session and we had Claudio (mechanic) visit to fix our stern gland.

20-23 August We had four days in Lille, and even though I wasn't feeling well for the first couple of days, we were able to see quite a lot of this lovely town, and plan to visit there again next year.
Mons to Lille via the Roubaix Canal. 13-20 August With a new crew (Jean-Marie and Leona) aboard we headed off for the next section of our voyage. We were looking forward to the Roubaix Canal which we had been told was great. It had only been re-opened in 2009, after falling into disuse and disrepair in the 1980s.
6-12 August We had another week in Mons to get a few jobs done and wait for our next guests Leona and Jean-Marie. We did see a few sights in Mons, Nimy and even took the train to Brussels.
Ronquieres and Strepy-Thieu 4-6 August On the way back to Mons we decided to take a detour to visit Ronquieres Incline Plane Boat Lift, as well as the Strepy Thieu Ascenceur.
Lobbes to Viesville 30 July to 3 August After John and Deanne left us, we took a few days in Lobbes to get a few jobs done and relax.
I was feeling much better with only a sling rather than a massive uncomfortable cast. We set off again on Friday to Abbaye d'Aulne and then left the Sambre on Saturday. |
