We planned to leave Weesp on Friday but as strong winds were forecast we spent an extra day there and left on the Saturday morning. I was quite happy for the rest as I was coming down with a cold. I was looking forward to this trip as our very first two days of cruising back in 2015 were from De Brasem to Weesp and we would be following the same route, though in reverse. A local caught this pike just near our boat at Weesp

15-21 September We stayed in Weesp for a week. As it was only a short ride to Muiden we visited there on two occasions including visiting the Castle - Muiden Slot - advertised as Amsterdam's Castle.
12-16 September We had decided to do another trip on the Vecht as we had enjoyed it so much last year. On our first afternoon there, our guests were Andrew - a friend from Preston Photographic Club - and his wife Jo, went out for a walk while we caught up on a few jobs. But after dinner we, we went out to take some photos of the lights, even though it didn't look like it was to be much of a sunset.
10-11 September Our friends Andrew and Jo arrived on Sunday evening in Gouda and on Monday morning we set off towards the Vecht River.
6-9 September Howard arrived back at the boat on Tuesday and Wednesday we put aside for getting organised after our trips. It rained most of the day so it was a good day for that.
So on Thursday we did the trip to Gouda arriving in time for lunch on the boat. Originally we planned to stay only 2 nights, but we decided to extend our stay as Saturday was Monuments Day, which meant we could go inside a range of buildings in the town that aren't usually open to the public. Also on Sunday morning there was to be a swimming race right past our boat, which sounded like it might be fun to watch - but also the locks would be closed that day to ensure the safety of the swimmers. 23 August - 4 September This year Howard went to a fishing festival in Ireland with a fishing friend, Martyn, from Australia. The photos in this blog post are from Howard and Martyn, and Howard has provided the details. From Howard: The fishing festival was in Gowna in County Cavan, and is based at Fitzpatrick's pub where we stayed. I've been before: they do a great bed and breakfast and everyone is really friendly and helpful. This year the festival had 72 anglers fishing. Howard caught a pike out of competition
26 August - 3 September Howard booked to go to Ireland fishing, so I decided to take the opportunity to go to France to do a French Language course. I decided on Montpellier as there is a direct flight from Amsterdam, it is in the south so the weather should be good, and there is a french language school there that has good reviews and will accept people for just one week. I booked to stay for the week at a host family, and added a couple of extra days so I could do a bit of looking around.
