I cannot take photos at the moment except with difficulty with my iphone. So photos here are mostly by Howard Johns and Peter Court. Our guests Deb and Peter left yesterday so I thought I'd have a go at a one-handed post. farewell drinks with Peter and Deb overlooking the Ijssel. Injuries My arm has been quite painful, although improving slowly. We went back to hospital in Meppel yesterday. The orthopaedic specialist says I should get 98% of function back. No need for an operation luckily. We have to return again on 2nd to change the plaster to a lighter full cast, as it is still a bit risky to change the cast at this stage. I have also bashed my other elbow quite badly during the fall and have a very impressive bruise. It is also a little swollen which is restricting my movement in that arm too. Travels After the drama of breaking my arm we decided to take an extra day at Steenwijk. So on Tuesday Howard and our guests Peter and Deb went for a bike ride to Giethorn. And I did a bit of shopping to get clothing more suited to use with a broken arm. On Wednesday the weather was glorious. It got as hot as 29c and we saw many Dutch people who had taken off their shirts to take full advantage of the weather We did a short cruise and moored wild before Zwartsluis. Howard was at the wheel as I couldn't manage with my arm. But I was there for advice as needed. A steep learning curve for him. The next morning Howard (of course) had a fish before we set off. We moored at Zwartsluis at about lunch time, among the big commercial boats and had a look around the town. We bought a couple of new fenders and a marine map of Friesland and also had a cuppa and shared a slice of apple pie. We then continued on again and decided to moor wild again. We had an aborted attempt to moor near some other boats before moving to another mooring where we were alone. We had been having troubles with our bow thruster which wasn't getting fully charged from the alternator, so we put it on the charger. The next day, Friday, we headed off for the final leg of our trip passing through a lock before getting back to WSV de Buitenhaven where we had been moored before at about noon. It was good to have gotten back to a place we now know well. BBQ We had promised to throw an Aussie BBQ for the team that worked on our boat so Saturday was the big day. We were going to have 16 people on board including our selves. Peter and Deb helped with all the shopping and preparation. I felt like I was just in the way so I did something useful - went to the hairdresser and got a cut and colour. The BBQ was a great success. We were able to seat all of us on the back deck and it only rained for a short time. We are taking our time here in Kampen to get the last few things organised. Henk (Steel) came over on Friday afternoon and he finally got the generator working. And Jacob our electrician is here today connecting it up and doing a few other jobs.
We have also ordered a replacement cook-top so that we can get rid of the oven that keeps shorting out the system. We decided on an induction cook-top as it is more energy efficient, but then had to replace most of our pots. So we will have that, the microwave-convection oven and our BBQ which is working well. Hopefully we can get a little etra storage shelf as well.

Wonderful to hear your arm is healing with no surgery required. The other bruised one looks tender -- ouch! Love reading your blog and seeing the photos.
