7-10 April We are now back on board Moondance. We flew from Australia on Thursday and then spent the weekend catching up with friends in Rotterdam, before catching 3 trains on Monday to arrive yesterday afternoon. Here is Howard showing off the extra bollards we are getting fitted to the back deck. In Rotterdam we spent Saturday afternoon at Hoek Van Holland with Ruud and Petra. It was a lovely sunny day, if a little windy. The beach was quite busy although no-one was swimming. There are holiday lets built right on the beach with views out over the sand and the North Sea. And there were people sailing land yachts and flying kites - obviously hired. The Hoek is where the Maas river meets the sea so there are great views of all the marine traffic steaming along the river as well. On Sunday morning the Rotterdam Marathon started just below our window. We had a great view of the start and the runners going over the bridge. Unfortunately it also upset friends travel plans who were going to come and visit. Instead Howard went out with Mike, Sophie and their kids to meet them while I had a rest. Hopefully not the start of a cold.
On Monday we travelled from Rotterdam to Diksmuide in Belgium (3 trains), and arrived here at about 2pm. We were very pleased to see Moondance looking pretty good. There was very little mould or spiders and no leaks that we could see. We set up the bed and bedroom and then went out for tea. Today - Tuesday we have our handyman team on board. They are giving us a run down on what they have done over the winter and completing the last couple of jobs. Currently our central heating works and then needs resetting so they are trying to fix that, and the water pump keeps working even when we have a tap on, so they will have to check for leaks. We are also going to get some extra bollards installed, and some no longer required vents in the roof sealed up. So there may be a couple of days of work still to do, but we haven't really looked around Diksmuide as yet so it is no problem for us. And the weather has now turned sunny and pleasant so I may take a book outside and read in the sun.
