28 September to 2 October Bruges (Brugge) in Flanders is a lovely town. Every street inside the large outer canal had beautiful old buildings. It was very touristy, but we loved it. We were moored in Coupure Jachthaven which was a very pretty place quite close to the centre of town. The main square was stunnning with restaurants the belfry, and other lovely buildings. This was also the take off point for the carriages that would do a trip around the town for EUR 50. The other main square in town was called the Burg and had the main city buildings. The city has a number of canals and likes to think of itself as the "Venice of the North" We did lot's of walking around, but we did also sample the local food - especially the waffles. We also visited the cathedral. So many interesting places and buildings. We were very pleased to share our visit with Hazel and Mark and then with Pam and Stuart.

A marvellous city to visit, we agree - and the Coupure is a great base. We could happily return to see more sights and just walk around.
