8-13 September 2022 The final leg of my Brittany adventure was a photography workshop with Explore Light. I have done a couple of workshops with them in the past, and they concentrate on landscape photography, especially long exposures. In this blog I will just give you a couple of couple of images from each of our stops as it will take me a while to go through and select and process my favourites, which I will eventualy post on my personal website at debkeir.weebly.com. I met up with the group at the Nantes airport. There were 5 other participants from a selection of coutries (2 from Ireland, and 1 from each of India, Isle of Man and USA) and our leader Daragh. We went straight to our first hotel in Pontorson. And, after an early dinner, we went to our first shoot at the iconic Mont St Michel. We stayed until well after sunset. Here is what it looked like when we arrived. And here as we were leaving. We stayed at Pontorson for 2 nights. During that time we returned to Mont St Michel for a sunrise. The other shoots we did from Pontorson I would mostly classify as "Sticks in the water". The group - Sue, Lara, Darraugh (leader), Sundar, Mark, Gerry A Morning at St Malo when we shot the sticks protecting the breakwater. And afterwards breakfast in St Malo itself. That evening the shoot was sticks by a road - which went into the sea. With the high tides here the level changes dramatically and quickly. Our last sticks in the water shoot was a mussel farm, where the sticks slowly rose from the water as the tide went out. Our next hotel was in Plouarzel in the west of Brittany not far from Brest. Here the shoots were of lighthouses. Our final hotel was at Saint-Brevin-les-Pins. Here we shot the Serpent d'Océan (a sculpture at the waters edge which was partly covered at high tide), and the fishing huts. Thanks to Daragh and the others for making it a great 5 days - here they are - Daragh at the front - clockwise from the top: Sundar, Mark, me, Sue, Gerry and Lara.
Thanks to Sue Auriemma, Lara Howe, and Daragh Muldowney for some of these people photos.
