We planned to leave Weesp on Friday but as strong winds were forecast we spent an extra day there and left on the Saturday morning. I was quite happy for the rest as I was coming down with a cold. I was looking forward to this trip as our very first two days of cruising back in 2015 were from De Brasem to Weesp and we would be following the same route, though in reverse. A local caught this pike just near our boat at Weesp On Saturday we travelled to Uithoorn (pronounced Out-horn we think). We went through the 5 bridges in Weesp and then had to cross the Amsterdam-Rijn canal. This time, with AIS showing us exactly where all the big ships were and their speeds, it was much less stressful and an easy run over to the other side. We were surprised at how little we remembered of the original trip, although we did remember the bridge that turned into us rather than lifted at Uithoorn. That had given us a huge fright back in 2015, as we had edged too close to the bridge when it started to open. Of course this time we were coming from the other direction so it opened away from us - and of course we knew what to expect. We stayed the night at Uithoorn. It was raining and I had a sleep in the afternoon so we didn't see much of the town, although we had lovely take away pizza for tea - our first take away dinner for the year. Sunday was our final day cruising for the year. The green house was all lit up. The route was quite windy and in some places narrow. Again we remembered very little from our original trip and were quite surprised at how tricky some of the cruising was - with a very narrow lift bridge situated on a bend in the canal, and also a narrow lock that was followed by a right hand turn. On our first trip we obviously didn't realise that it was tricky - we probably thought it was normal. We reached De Brasem just after 12 and moored. We will probably have to move her again after our trip to Spain, but our cruising is now complete for 2018, and we are already planning our next years adventures. The days are shorter and colder now - Autumn has arrived. We have even turned on our central heating again. Whilst in De Brasem we have a great view of the lake. We enjoy watching the weather and the passing ships.

Thanks for a season of fascinating stories and wonderful photos Deb and of course, your guest blogger Howard as well. Actually, I think the very last photo might be my favourite!

How sad that the season has come to an end. We will really miss the wonderful descriptions and spectacular photos of your adventures. It really gave us a chance to "travel" to all those places as well. Maybe we can join you for a bit next year. Would be wonderful.
