We left Elburg on Friday to go to Kampen. It was overcast but no rain. It took us 5 hours and we only went through one lock (it is a 20minute drive in a car). The engine went well on the trip. We saw a few Botters and some commercial traffic - especially on the Ijssel. We are now moored in a lovely marina just next to the city walls. The replica of the Ijssel Kogge is just within the harbour. This is a ship that was sunk in the Ijssel river sometime in the 13th to 15th century, and was only recently found again. The original is being conserved in Lelystad. The painters came yesterday and finished up. There are only a few small things left to paint which Howard wants to do himself. There are tall ships moored on the quay in town. They seem to do charters and functions. A grand site. Yesterday we got internet for the boat, and our friends Pete and Deb arrived. The stickers with the boat name arrive this afternoon. And tomorrow we hope to have the new pumps for the generator and have that up and running. We hope to leave here on Thursday for a cruise in OverIjssel. Now that we have the AIS up and running you can check out our position anytime using the location tab above, or click on the button below.
