Samois-sur-Seine, Fontainbleu, Moret-sur-Loing FR 19-26 August 2022 After we left Melun we headed down to Samois-sur-Seine, which had been recommended to us twice as a nice mooring, and then onto Moret-sur-Loing, where we leave the boat for a while while we do other things. View from our mooring in Moret In the way to Samois there were plenty of lovely houses along the river. When we arrived we were pleased that we were there was no other vistors already moored, so we had plenty of room. After a nice lunch we decided to explore the town. Django Rheinhardt is celebrated by the town as he lived and died here. After a ride upstream we headed inland to the centre of town which unfortunately was up a steep hill. The next day we decided to cycle to Fontainbleu which was about 9kms from our mooring, even though my foot was too sore to do a tour of the palace, but we thought we could either cycle around the gardens or do the little train. We were only able to cycle in the park, and so we took the little train for a tour around. It is a massive chateau, have been extended over and gain by many kings. After our train ride we headed into the town and found a restaurant where we had a delicious meal. Then we headed to the park for a further explore. The next day we decided to a little cycle downstream. In the end we did a big loop down to the bridge then back to the next bridge upstream. It was a bit long after our long ride the day before and my foot was aching by the end of the day. But it was an enjoyable ride. in the evening we went to the restaurant opposite the moorings. On the Monday morning we set off to Moret-sur-Seine where we had a reservation to leave the boat for a couple of weeks as we will be away for some of that time. Our reservation was originally in St Mammés, but as there are water level problems many people are looking for a mooring and so they asked if we would stay in Moret instead as we have a shallow draft and could take a mooring that others may not be able to use. We were quite happy about the change as St Mammés is on the Seine and therefore gets more commercial traffic than the Loing. Downstream of Samois there were also some lovely houses along the river. Our mooring in Moret is on the inside of the large pontoon. The outside of the pontoon has been taken up with hotel barges, each staying one or two nights only. One even had a jacuzzi on the back deck. According to the Port Captain there are a lot coming through, as there are very few places that can take them at the moment because of the water levels. After lunch we had a short cycle into town, but my foot was still sore so we didn't stay long. Having settled in, we spent the next couple of days getting ready to go away, although we did have Mel and David from AppleJack, and Margaret and Roger from Pendragon over for pre-dinner drinks on Tuesday night. On Wednesday, Howard took the train to Melun to pickup his hire car which took a couple of hours. The weather was hot again so in the evening we had a swim. We took the ladder to the other quay and swam there as there were less reeds. Early Thursday morning Howard left for the UK, leaving me on the boat by myself. A good chance to catch up on a few jobs before I leave on Saturday. View from our boat

Beautiful photos, Deb. I'm admiring your eye for architecture and the reflections in the water. Hope your foot feels better soon!
