7 September Yesterday I went up to the Namur Citadelle which dominates the city of Namur. I walked up in the morning. I first did the Petit Train, which takes you around the gardens and grounds of the Citadelle. I sat near a window that had no glass because I thought I'd get better photos. Unfortunately that meant a wet bum as at sometime rain had come in. The tourist season has obviously finished as there were only 4 people on the train. After that I did the underground tour which showed us the tunnels under the citadelle. Very interesting. After a look around the museum, I had a walk around and revisited some of the places on foot that I had been on the train. When the Citadelle was demilitarised, they made parks and other attractions. There is also a building called the Namur Chateau, which was built in the 20th century as a hotel and restaurant. It had lovely roses in the garden. Of course there were wonderful views. On the way down was also a quirky statue. In the evening I took out my tripod and took some photos of the city. See top and below.
