Monday 17th AprilWe wanted to buy an outdoor table that would sit nicely over our new pigeon hatch. We thought a nice table with a glass top would let the sun in, and a square or round table that is 150cm -180cm would be perfect. After searching in shops and on the internet the only table we could find was a plastic party table 160cm wide. So we decided to buy this (it was on special) and get it delivered to the boat. As we didn't have an address for the boat we decided to give them the address that google maps gave us for our location. So we ordered the table using this address. Wednesday 19th AprilI checked the address that we had used and it was the camping ground over the road, so I went over there and explained the situation. They said they would tell the driver if he came there. Then we waited for the table to arrive. It was originally going to be delivered that afternoon but there was no sign of the table. Thursday 20th AprilWe got an email with an apology and a new delivery time for Thursday. 15 minutes into the new delivery window we got a call saying that they couldn't find our address. I explained that it was a barge on the canal, and they said that they would delivery it there on the Friday. Friday 21st AprilAgain no sign of the package, so I asked my painter to help out with a call to the office. The person we needed to speak to wasn't there so we asked for a call back. When I spoke to I explained the situation and he said that they couldn't deliver to the boat, and that I would have to give them a new address. So I gave them Mandy's address in Elburg. They said that they would deliver to her on Tuesday. They also said that it was 2 packages and one had been returned to them and one had gone to a depot miles away. Tuesday 25th AprilNo sign of the package Wednesday 26th AprilI asked Mandy to call them to find out what was happening. After waiting for the person who knew the situation to be available, she said they weren't sure where the packages were and they'd have to call her back. That meant Monday as Thursday was a holiday and Mandy doesn't work on Fridays. Tuesday 2nd MayMandy chased up for us (she was sick on the Monday), and they didn't know where our package was. So Mandy suggested that I check with the POST NL branch where undelivered packages are usually sent. I went there and found the package, and promised to pick it up the next day. Wednesday 3rd MayHoward and returned to POST NL and went to collect the package. They wanted identification - ie my passport. So I had to return to the boat and get it. Then we were finally able to pick up the package. The package was really beaten up so we took plenty of photos of the package at the post office. Howard strapped it to the bike and then we walked it home. At home we unwrapped it and found that it was damaged. It is however quite a good little table. It's white plastic and folds up. I contacted Praxis to request an exchange. They asked for photos - which we provided, and we also explained that we had a new address to send the table to. They said fine and that the table could be delivered next Tuesday to the marina in Kampen. Sunday 7th MayGot an email confirming that the table would be delivered on Monday or Tuesday Tuesday 9th MayCalled to find out what time I should expect the table. The people who had arranged the exchange said I needed to call the store. I called the store and they told me that it had already been delivered on Friday. They told me the address - it was the address of the POST NL office in Elburg. So I called the POST NL, but they didn't have the package. So I called back the store, and they now say it will be delivered to that address today. But maybe POST NL can change the address. So I contacted POST NL who said they couldn't do anything, So I contacted the store to see if someone else could pick it up. They said they couldn't be sure, but probably. But they would need to bring something with my signature as well as a copy of my passport. So I asked Erik - our carpenter if he could do that for us as he works in Kampen and lives in Elburg. Wednesday 10th MayWednesday morning Erik dropped the table off. Finally our party table - just in time for us to start cruising. What a saga. What was supposed to be delivered in 2 days, took over 3 weeks. But at least it arrived arrived in time for the good weather.
