16-18 July Our good friends Pete and Sue joined us in Meppel and we spent a drizzly raining day there before we set off to Hasselt on the Monday which was a lovely sunny day. Our first stop was Zwartsluis where we did some shopping and had a cuppa for about an hour. Then we went further along the canal to Hasselt and got a mooring on the quay. Sue and I had a good look around the town, including a trip to the Kringloopwinkel (second hand store), where we got some champagne glasses, but the guys didn't last and set off home for a spot of fishing. It was a glorious evening and dinner on the back deck was something special. The next morning we set off to Zwolle. We had a plan of where to moor and were pleased to find a spot there, but the harbour master told us we had to move and so we had to turn around and go to another place, which was a better spot. We were effectively moored in the old moat, very convenient and pretty spot. We had that afternoon and most of the next day to explore the old town. We visited the peperbus - The 'Pepperbox' or Tower of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Assuncion. The climb was 236 steps to over 50m high - great view over the town.
