30 -31 July From Weesp we headed down the Vecht River which is allegedly one of the prettiest waterways in the Netherlands On Sunday we had some patchy rain, and we stopped at Loenen aan de Vecht. Just after we stopped we had a heavy rain shower, but that didn't stop some intrepid boaters. In the afternoon our dutch friends Jean-Marie and Leona visited and we went for a bike ride while Geoff and Schon went for a walk. Today (Monday) we headed off and moored in Maarssen which is only 8 kms from Utrecht. All along the river were many lovely and many huge houses. This is obviously an area for the rich. Nice that we could just cruise by. We also passed Nyenrode Business University today which is set in a castle. Not a bad spot for a bit of study. We had also heard that people had "tea houses". Just small structures to sit in to have a cup of tea. Here are a few we saw on the way. This is almost the end of our trip on the Vecht, when we leave we will head onto the main Amsterdam-Rhine canal where all the big commercial ships travel.
