15-21 September We stayed in Weesp for a week. As it was only a short ride to Muiden we visited there on two occasions including visiting the Castle - Muiden Slot - advertised as Amsterdam's Castle. We did a guided tour of the principle rooms and then had a look around the rest by ourselves. It was very interesting. One picture was of a story that in Gent people have their heads cut off and baked to make them better. While their heads are gone they are temporarily replaced by cabbages. From this legend come some terms like "half-baked" and "hot-head". I even met the court jester. The ride to Muiden and the town itself were nice. Whilst in Weesp we had a good view of the river from our back deck. For two nights we watched kids racing in tiny yachts. We are told they were preparing for a regatta on the weekend. And many other boats passed us as well. We also had some lovely sunsets - and one morning I even got up for sunrise. One night as we were out walking a large cruise boat went through the bridges and through town. It was a tight fit. And of course Howard went fishing.
