19th - 29th February 2024 Les Eyzies, France Howard headed down to the Perigord with our friend Peter to do some work on Janet and Peter's farm. We had been there in November and this time the idea was to burn what had been cut down in November (we had arranged a fire permit) and do some further clean up. Neither Janet (Peter's wife) or I was there so it was men's time. One of the first things Peter needed to do was to buy a chainsaw to help speed up the work. This really made a difference. Howard and Peter worked hard each day (except when it was too wet), and they had multiple fires to get rid of all the waste they were generating. When we were there in November, Janet and Peter had also finalised a builder to come to replace the roof on the barn, an expensive undertaking, but one needed to preserve the beautiful building. By the time Peter and Howard arrived, the work was already underway. Although a day or two were lost to very wet weather the guys were happy with the results of their labours. They even got time to watch the Six Nations Rugby and have a Guinness. In the end Howard caught 2 trains home (via Bordeaux) to get back to to Paris and the boat in time to celebrate our wedding anniverasry on 1st March.
